Riverbed

A riverbed or stream bed is the channel bottom of a stream, river or creek; the physical confine of the normal water flow. The lateral confines or channel margins, during all but flood stage, are known as the stream banks or river banks.
The descriptive terms, ‘right bank’ and ‘left bank’, always apply from the perspective of looking downstream, in the direction the current is going.

English country gardens

River beds and River banks form part of many classic English gardens. Landscaping is often used to bring the beauty of the river bed to the attention of the visitor. There is no better way to see the English countryside and villages than against the natural back drop of the river bed.

Rivers are part of the water cycle

A river is a natural waterway that transits water through a landscape from higher to lower elevations. It is an integral component of the water cycle.
